1. Decide what you are going to use as a lubricant to be sure it stays on and is not next to impossible to get the grip on: *Gasgacinch is what we use. This is a gasket sealer and belt dressing and works perfectly for rubber grips. *You can use hairspray - we use this on clear grips. *Some use WD 40 but it doesn't dry quickly. *Some have used lighter fluid.
2. Take old grip off of racquet and remove anything that can cause any discomfort. If you are removing a wrap grip there is normally a staple at the bottom of the handle...remove that staple.
3. Take rubber grip and stretch top of grip that will be going on racquet first.
4. Some grips will have to be cut to size. With Python, for example, you generally would want to cut off the ridge at the bottom of the grip. Any ridges, for that matter, should be cut off.
5. Take gasgacinch glue with dobber attached to cap and dip in glue and put over handle of racquet over trash can so that glue does not get on floor. Be sure not to drown it in glue, which would cause slippage of the grip when playing. Do not let glue get on clothes, as you will ruin them.
6. Take dobber and glue and put inside of grip through both ends of grip.
7. Put racquet head underneath arm pit and grip in other hand opposite of arm holding racquet. Take top of grip and hold at 45 degree angle to the butt of the handle and twist grip 360 degrees to make sure the inside of grip is lubricated so it then slips over butt end easily.
8. While still at a 45 degree angle to the handle, twist grip onto the racquet and continue twisting until it is all the way on (flush with butt-end) and neat.
9. Take your index finger and thumb. Hold firmly to the butt of the handle and grip. With the other hand, grip tightly just above your other hand and squeeze any wrinkles or excess glue out while at the same time stretching the grip upward. This will help for future play where the grip could slide off the end of the racquet.
10. Take a napkin or tissue and clean butt of handle of any excess glue. Now you are ready to let it sit for an hour before playing and it is ready to go.
